Another Eden Begins Japanese & Language
Another Eden Begins supports Japanese text and full Japanese voice acting alongside English — five interface languages in total, but only English and Japanese get audio.
Japanese is one of only two languages with full voice acting in Another Eden Begins — the other is English. The game supports five interface and subtitle languages, but if you want to hear the characters rather than read them, your options are English and Japanese.
That distinction is the thing most people actually want to know, and it is easy to miss: the store listings show five languages in one list, and the audio column is the one that matters.
Language support, in full
| Language | Interface | Subtitles | Audio (voice) |
|---|---|---|---|
| English | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
| Japanese | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
| Simplified Chinese | ✅ | ✅ | — |
| Traditional Chinese | ✅ | ✅ | — |
| Korean | ✅ | ✅ | — |
Sources: Steam and Nintendo store listings, which agree on the language set (double-sourced). Nintendo's own listing names the set as Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and American English.
The practical read: Chinese and Korean players get a fully localised read but English or Japanese voices. Japanese players — and anyone who wants the original-language dub — get both.
How to actually switch
This is the part that catches people out, because the setting is not in the in-game options menu. It lives on the title screen:
- Get to the title screen — you will know it because it shows four options.
- Choose the second option.
- In that menu, the first item is the text language — scroll to Japanese (or English).
- The second item is the voice language — set this separately if you want a different audio track.
Because text and voice are two separate settings, you can in principle run Japanese voices with English text (or the reverse). We have not verified every combination on every platform, so treat that as expected behaviour rather than a tested guarantee (to confirm).
The same title-screen menu is where the demo's language is fixed — see the demo language fix if your demo booted in the wrong language.

The Japanese side of the production
Another Eden Begins comes from a Japanese studio, WRIGHT FLYER STUDIOS, and the scenario and direction are credited to Masato Kato with the main theme by Yasunori Mitsuda — both names from the Chrono Trigger / Chrono Cross lineage. The credits page covers that side.
What we could not verify is a per-character Japanese cast list. The official site publishes the English CV for all 19 base-roster characters (collected on the voice actors page); the Japanese equivalents are not on the pages we checked, so we are not naming them (to confirm).

FAQ
- Does Another Eden Begins have Japanese voice acting?
- Yes. **Japanese is one of only two languages with full audio** — English and Japanese. The other supported languages are interface and subtitles only (store listings, double-sourced).
- Which languages does the game support?
- Five: English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean. All five cover interface and subtitles; only English and Japanese cover audio (Steam + Nintendo listings).
- How do I switch to Japanese?
- On the **title screen**, not in the in-game menus: pick the second option, then the first item in that menu is the **text language** and the second is the **voice language** (community threads, single source).
- Can I mix Japanese voice with English text?
- The title-screen menu separates text language and voice language into two settings, so yes in principle — we have not verified every combination (*to confirm*).
- Is the game originally Japanese?
- The studio is Japanese and the game ships with a full Japanese script and dub, but the official English site and store pages are first-class — this is not a Japanese-only release (official site).
- Who are the Japanese voice actors?
- Not verified. The official site lists the **English** CV for all 19 base-roster characters; we could not find a per-character Japanese cast list on the pages we checked (*to confirm*).
